Federal and New York State law both allow a person with disability--as defined by the Social Security Administration--to protect financial resources for the purpose of maintaining eligibility for government benefits by using a pooled supplemental needs trust (SNT).
While receiving benefits, a pooled SNT can help a person with a disability purchase life-enhancing items and services that their benefits do not provide. Enrolling in a pooled supplemental needs trust can make considerable improvements to a person's quality of life and, for many of our beneficiaries, gives them the ability to remain in their home and in the community they love.
As Trustee, NYSARC will administer the account and distribute funds for the sole benefit of the beneficiary to purchase eligible items and services when provided with required documentation.
